Before we recorded episode 17 of our tech, video game, and UFC podcast, we jumped into some Valorant action! We didn't do terrible, and we didn't do great, but we had fun and that's all that really matters. Watch us play Valorant, a new, free-to-play, PvP game from Riot Games at the video below!
If you haven't played Valorant yet, the new free-to-play PvP shooter from Riot Games is essentially a modern take on Counterstrike with a dash of Overwatch mixed in.
At launch, the game only has two modes: Unrated and Spike Rush. Both game modes include two teams - attackers and defenders. In each game mode, the attacking team's objective is to either eliminate the enemy players or plant "The Spike" on one of two or three different points on the map. On the flip side, the goal of the defending team is to stop the attackers from planting The Spike, defuse it once they do, or eliminate the entire attacking team. Pretty straightforward, right?
The twist here is that each of the characters in the game have special abilities which, when used properly, give players advantages to accomplish their mission. As players continue to win games and earn EXP, more characters are unlocked. Each character also has an "ultimate" ability which is unlocked after getting a certain number of kills, or after picking up orbs around the map.
Overall, we've been having a lot of fun with this game, and will certainly be playing a lot more of it in the future! What do you think about Valorant? Is this the type of game you could see yourself spending some time on? Let us know in the comments!
