Let's admit it. When you're strolling the aisles of Total Wine, scanning through a sea of Hazy IPAs, the look and feel of the can itself is the first judgment you make in the process of selecting which beer you'll bring home. Humans are very visual beings, and because of this, the design of craft beer can could be the deciding factor in picking your next brew.
To get more insight on this, we sat down with Erik Leach, Marketing Brand Manager for New Realm Brewing to talk about his award-winning craft beer label designs, how he got started in the industry, and the role that he believes design plays in selling craft beer. Our conversation with Erik was extremely interesting and a lot of fun, so we hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
Erik recently won two awards for his Tyrannosaurus Flex Hazy DIPA craft beer label. One of which was a "Crushie" from the Craft Beer Marketing Awards in the "People's Choice Best 16oz Can Design"category. And the other from VEER Magazine's Best Can Design for their Golden Tap Awards.
Make sure you check out his Instagram page to see other label designs has completed recently, as well as to see what other projects he has been up to. I'd highly recommend you take a look at his Inktober 31-day challenge! And, of course, please visit New Realm Brewing to see what's on tap, and stop by their Virginia Beach brewery location for a massive beer selection and delicious food!
