This is in no way a review of the iOS 14 public beta, but more so a quick few impressions to open a conversation about the software improvements/changes.
iOS 14 Public Beta Impressions
First, let me say, the Beta, as you might imagine, is buggy. More so than I was expecting. This is the first time I've installed beta software on my primary phone, and maybe I should have thought twice about that.
Either way, I'm enjoying the additions in iOS 14 so far. The widgets that you can now put on your homescreen, as you can see in the photo here, are very familiar, and they look really nice in conjunction with everything else going on with the homescreen. They aren't super useful yet in terms of how you can interact with them, but I think this is a good start, and I'm looking forward to seeing what third party developers do with this functionality.
I also LOVE having an app library now. Instead of having pages of apps and folder that I never use, I can file all of that stuff away and access it through the app library when need. Though, to be honest, I rarely use that library, and instead pull down on the screen to quick search for apps.
I haven't yet dug deep into all that is new in the release, but wanted to get out some quick impressions and thoughts. If anyone else has installed the public beta at this point, drop your feedback and let us know what you think!
